What is Blu Couriers?

Blu Couriers is a crowd-sourcing delivery model that works in conjunction with the Aramex network, utilising existing technologies and providing individuals the opportunity to work on their own terms.

Where does Blu Couriers operate?

Blu Couriers is available in key metropolitan and regional locations across New Zealand and is ready for you to join the team.

 

How does Blu Couriers work?

Once you’ve been inducted and have downloaded the app, you’re ready to go! Simply log on in the morning and select the parcels you want to deliver through the Blu Courier portal. You set your preferences so you have the flexibility to work where and when it suits you.

An Aramex courier will drop the parcels off at your home and you’ll be ready to start your shift. Simply scan the parcels with your provided Blu Couriers app, load and deliver! It’s as simple as that.

 

What do I need to become a Blu Courier?

To become a Blu Courier all you’ll need is:

  • A personal IRD number
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • A car and car insurance
  • Smartphone (iOS 12 or Android 8 and above)
  • A completed police check
  • A ‘can do’ attitude

 

How do I become a Blu Courier?

Once you’ve confirmed that you have all of the above requirements to become a Blu Courier, you’re ready to go! Simply fill in the online application form and your Blu Couriers manager will get in touch to schedule in your short training and induction session to give you tips on how to get the most out of your time. Complete this and you’re ready to go!

 

Do I need an IRD number?

How much will I earn as a Blu Courier?

You’ll be paid on a per parcel basis, the more you deliver the more you’ll earn. Parcel rates vary per delivery, depending on the size of parcel and where and when you deliver. To find out more, apply now and we'll tell you all you need to know at an information and induction session.

 

Do I get paid on an hourly rate?

No, you’ll be paid on a per parcel basis. The more you deliver, the more you’ll earn!

Who pays my tax?

Blu Couriers are responsible for paying the taxes due, as well as completing their income tax returns. If you do have further questions, we recommend speaking to a taxation professional or directly with the IRD.

 

Who pays for my fuel?

Blu Couriers are responsible for paying for their fuel.

We are however currently looking at implementing a reward system that might include fuel cards. So stay tuned!

 

When do I get paid?

You’ll be paid on a weekly basis, every week in arrears to your nominated bank account.

 

Can I choose the area that I want to work in?

Absolutely! When signing up, be sure to tell us your location preferences. You’re free to accept the deliveries you want as we don’t automatically assign them.

 

Can I choose the amount of parcels I want to deliver?

Absolutely! You’re free to accept as little or as many deliveries you want as we don’t automatically assign them.

 

Do I handle money as a Blu Courier?

No, all parcels are already paid for and you will not need to handle any money while delivering.

 

Do I need to wear a uniform?

We don’t require Blu Couriers to wear a uniform, however we do ask that you wear an ID and closed shoes (for your safety), dress neutrally, professionally and of course, comfortably.

Do I require special shoes to be a delivery driver with Blu?

We don’t require Blu Couriers to wear special shoes, however we do ask that you dress neutrally, professionally and of course, comfortably.

 

What happens if I damage a parcel while it is in my care?

If a parcel is damaged, you must take a photo of the damaged parcel and contact your Blu Courier manager right away. To take a photo, tap the ‘Take Photo’ icon to use the integrated, then tap ‘Done’ to move the job to the bottom of your Delivery List.

What happens if I run out of time whilst delivering my parcels?

We request that you only take on the jobs you’re able to complete comfortably, however in the event that you run out of time, you’ll be required to contact your Blu Courier manager and you can return the parcel to Aramex or reattempt the delivery the next day.

 

What is my delivery expectation on my parcels accepted to deliver?

We expect our Blu Couriers to deliver all the parcels they’ve accepted, however we understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may prevent this from happening. In the instance that you’re unable to deliver all of your onboarded parcels, you’ll be required to contact your Blu Couriers manager and return the parcel to Aramex or reattempt the delivery the next day.

 

Is there any form of navigation on my deliveries to assist me?

Yes, the Blu Couriers app includes a built-in navigation system to help you optimise your route. Once you’ve loaded the parcels onto your device, the Delivery List will show you the most efficient route and how long it will take you to complete your deliveries. A map will appear, with delivery location pins and outline the best route to deliver your parcels. Tap ‘Directions’ to view the detailed directions or tap ‘Navigate’ to use your default navigation app.

 

What if my battery is flat on my mobile device?

We always recommend that our Blu Couriers bring along a car charger with them so that they can make the most of their time, optimise their routes and deliver as many parcels as they can to earn more money. If your battery runs flat, seek out a charger or return the parcels to the depot.

 

Is there a contact person to support me whilst I am out delivering parcels if needed?

Of course! Your Blu Couriers manager will be on hand to help you with any issues while you’re out delivering.

 

What if I don’t like being a Blu Courier?

If you don’t enjoy being a Blu Courier, please feel free to discuss this with your Blu Couriers Manager who’ll be happy to work with you. As a Blu Courier, you’re not under any obligation to continue the partnership, however we’re always striving to assist our Blu Courier partners and would love to help make the partnership work for you.
